Johnny's Coffee Roasters started in 2014. I named it after my son Johnny who has grown up watching me build this for him as a single father. Johnny is named after my late father John Boyle. He had one daughter, Rosie, and six sons. Being the youngest I had the wonderful opportunity to learn from my elders and still do to this day.
The shop was a dilapidated milk bar suffering from years and years of neglect, but with the amazing opportunity to reinvent and inspire a new breed of hospitality... It's a blast from the past, hence Master Blaster our premium Single Origin Espresso.
In 1998 I created 'Orange'. I was the first person to poach eggs in Windsor from High Street Road to Dandenong Road on Chapel Street. Everyone said "You will never make it, no one goes to Windsor". Sure enough i was right and now Windsor is one of the most heavily populated hospitality strips in the entire country.
I chose Elwood to do it again, but this time, set the bar even higher... to emulate many years of travel and research via music and hospitality. I am inspired by brands in hospitality that have existed for over 100 years. They form a glue to the community that is genuine, reliable and trustworthy. In an age of social media and social disconnect there are many challenges to be part of a real community.
We roast onsite so you can see for yourself we are not interested in clever marketing and greenwashing. You can smell and watch the coffee roasted right in front of your eyes everyday and ask me anything you want to know about roasting coffee, where it's from and the human rights behind my brand.
